What is MLM?
MLM or multi-level-marketing is a business model that has the potential to make a person a lot of money. Unlike a traditional job where you are confined to an office where you work a set schedule, MLM business opportunities allow you to become your own boss. Depending on the opportunity you choose, you will sell a product or service to a target group. At the same time, you will recruit others who will also sell those products and services to target groups. Those associates will become part of your network and they will begin to recruit people into your and their network. Then, you make a commission off of your recruits and you make residuals off of your recruit’s recruits’ sales. Imagine a funnel of money with you sitting at the top. The more you recruit and the more successful your network becomes, the more money you’re likely to make. That’s why it’s not uncommon to hear of MLM gurus who make a nice multi-million dollar per year commissions, and they never have to work again, all because they built up a powerful MLM empire using good old hard work.
It Takes Work
Most MLM business opportunities require some type of work. Of course, you’re not going to be digging ditches or anything, but you will be networking and selling and recruiting. That’s why MLM opportunities are best prescribed for people who are considered to be go-getters. The more initiative you have, the more likely you are to make it with any multi-level marketing opportunities. When you join an opportunity, you are only given the tools. What you do with those tools will ultimately determine your success.
The Tools
Your job is to find an mlm opportunity that provides the most resources to help you succeed. Some business opportunities give you what are essentially businesses in a box. They’ll give you a product or service, a squeeze page to capture customers, lists of potential leads and network recruits and plenty of advice and support. Of course, you will have to buy into these types of opportunities, but if you have what it takes to get out there and take the success that you feel you deserve, then you’ll consider it a business investment to help make your dreams come true.

How to Succeed
Now that you know a little bit more about MLM businesses and opportunities, you may be thinking about joining one. Keep in mind that in order to succeed in multi-level marketing, you are going to have to create a solid infrastructure that will hold up under even the strongest of conditions. If you blanket recruit, which means you basically take anyone who shows interest in what you’re doing, you stand the chance of having that person quit the moment things get tough.
Instead, spend some time interviewing the person. Make sure your recruits, and the people they recruit, have the same hunger you do, that same drive to reach the top. If you only hire the ones who you believe are worthy to join your business, you’ll go far in MLM. You can make a lot of money and you can carve out your niche in this big world of ours, but you have to really want it if you want to be one of the many success stories that multi-level marketing is known for.
